You Are Not Broken — You Just Need to Reconnect

You know when something’s off, something is off.

Just like when you know something is right, it’s RIGHT.

You have a knowing deep within you. It’s more than intuition. It’s an innate, divine intelligence that integrates your mind, body, heart, and spirit. You are never without it, but sometimes, life makes it difficult to hear, follow, or trust your inner wisdom.

Why Do We Lose Touch with Our Inner Knowing?

We live in a world that conditions us to:

  • Doubt ourselves
  • Prioritize doing over being
  • Push through exhaustion and overwhelm
  • Suppress our emotions
  • Mess with our natural chemistry

These societal norms, personal challenges, and past experiences can leave us feeling:

  • 😩 Overwhelmed and anxious
  • 🫠 Disconnected from ourselves
  • 💤 Exhausted and unmotivated
  • 😬 Stuck in patterns of worry and self-doubt

But what if you’re not broken and don’t need to be fixed?
What if all you need is to reconnect with yourself, your body, and your innate divinity?

A Simple Practice to Reconnect

Here’s a gentle, easy-to-integrate practice that can help you reconnect with yourself. It’s simple, but the results are profound.

The 3-Song Reset

For the next week, commit to this practice at least once:

  1. Lie down on the floor, a yoga mat, or your bed.
  2. Play 3 of your favorite songs — ones that make you feel calm, reflective, or joyful.
  3. Breathe deeply counting to 4 on inhale and counting 4 on exhale.
  4. Place one hand on your belly and one on your chest. (If you come to Homebody yoga class you’ll know this breathing technique; we do it at the beginning of most classes).
  5. Stay present and allow whatever thoughts or feelings arise to flow and go.

Sounds simple, right? So simple that you might think it’s pointless. But believe me — there are gifts waiting for you in this practice.

Bonus points: have your journal or paper and pen beside you and allow yourself to write what comes through you without censorship and judgement.

Why This Practice Works

When you lie down, breathe, and listen, here’s what happens:

  • 🧘‍♀️ You calm your nervous system.
If you’re constantly in fight-or-flight mode, this practice helps you shift to rest-and-digest mode.

  • ❤️ You reconnect with your body. Placing your hands on your belly and chest brings a sense of awareness and safety.

  • 😌 You release pent-up emotions. Tears might flow, or tension might dissolve. Let it happen — this is healing.

  • 💭 You gain clarity. Solutions, ideas, and insights often arise when you give yourself space to breathe.
My Story: From Burnout to Balance

When I started practicing yoga in 2013, my life ran on adrenaline. I was always go-go-go, taking on more than I could manage, rushing through tasks, and crashing into exhaustion.

In every class, I’d fall asleep during savasana (the final resting pose). My body was crying out for rest, but I wasn’t listening.

Eventually, I made a rule: if I fell asleep in savasana, I’d skip the next class and take a nap instead. My body needed rest more than it needed another workout.

That simple commitment to listening to my body changed everything. I realized there was another way to live — one that didn’t involve constant tension and burnout.

How to Stay Present During the 3-Song Reset

Your mind might try to hijack the experience with thoughts like:

  • “You’re wasting time.”
  • “You have too much to do.”
  • “This won’t help.”

Stay with your breath. Stay with the music. Remind yourself: It’s just 3 songs.

Repeat to yourself:

  • I can stay here for 3 songs.
  • I can give this to myself.
  • I can breathe with myself.
Ready to Reconnect with Your Inner Wisdom?

Start today. Lie down, press play, and breathe. This simple practice can help you break old habits of stress, worry, and self-doubt — and reconnect with the calm, wise, powerful you.

Remember: You are not a problem to be fixed. You are a beautiful being with an infinite intelligence within you. It’s time to tap back into your power.

🌿 Make this your priority this week. Your body, mind, and spirit will thank you.
